| UPS (Uninterruptible
Power Supply)
A UPS or Uninterruptible Power Supply serves to protect your valuable
equipment from damage due to unexpected power surges, and the inconvenience
of sudden power failures that result in data loss and expensive
equipment downtime.
Essentially there are three types of UPS that offer different levels
of protection and features. Optional software is available to provide
automatic, unattended shut-down of file servers and workstations.
(i) Off Line UPS
An off-line UPS will filter noise, surges and spikes from the utility
power before passing it to the load. The battery which stands off-line
(and therefore does not see the normal utility power) is charged
on a “as-required” basis. When power failure is detected,
the UPS switches over to the battery.
(ii) Line Interactive UPS
A line Interactive UPS combines some of the advantages of stand
by (off-line) units with those of on line units. Normal power passes
through the noise filters and surge suppressors before going into
an inverter that acts as a battery charger under normal conditions
but on power failure will provide battery back-up.
(iii) On Line UPS
With On-Line systems the input current passes through their major
components all the time. A steady nominal output is obtained and
if the line falls or goes outside of the input limits, the battery
will instantly carry on delivering power to the load.

The Black Knight is a line interactive, modified sinewave UPS that
offers an advanced level of power filtering that removes ‘spikes’
and ‘sags’ from the normal power supply to provide a
regulated power output.
It provides quality UPS protection for small servers, workstations
and personal computers and also includes phone/fax/internet protection
that is compatible with RJ-11 and RJ-45 plugs.
Includes an extra surge protection outlet (600VA and above models),
software interface via RS232 port with power monitoring/automatic
shutdown software with a remote alarm messaging facility.
Covered by a full two year RTB warranty that also includes the
battery.
The Smart King is a line interactive pure sinewave UPS with an
LCD front display panel. It offers an advanced level of power filtering
that removes ‘spikes’ and ‘sags’ from the
normal power supply to provide a regulated power output.
This intelligent UPS has the added benefit of a “replace
battery alarm” which can be easily changed by the user.
Includes a telephone/modem surge protection port, RS232 software
interface plus power monitoring/automatic shutdown software with
remote alarm messaging facility.
Smart King is the ideal guardian that will shield computers and
other critical electronic equipment from lightning, electrical noise,
over/under voltage, brownouts and blackouts. Utilising state of
the art digital control technology, a Smart King UPS provides precise,
clean and stable computer grade power at all times.
Covered by a full two year RTB warranty that also includes the
battery.
The Vanguard UPS offers advanced UPS protection with its multi-function,
on line double conversion power protection system.
Pure sinewave output with less than 3% THD, it is best suited to
industrial systems, sensitive equipment, networks, large/web servers,
emergency lighting systems and telecommunication equipment and other
critical electronic equipment.
The Vanguard protects equipment from lightning and surges as well
as short circuit and overloads.
The Vanguard offers and advanced battery management system and
sophisticated communications to provide maximum system availability.
The battery management system utilises a three-stage charging technique
that not only doubles the service life of the batteries but optimizes
the charging time.
